Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) says the state government had trained over three thousand teachers across the state.

SUBEB chairman, Alhaji Salisu Zakar disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.
He said that beneficiaries of the training programme were selected from primary and junior secondary schools in the 27 local government areas in the state.
According to him, the step is to build the capacity of teachers in order to improve standard of education.

Alhaji Salisu Zakar said that the government had also concluded plans to recruit 4,500 teachers in the state.
He said that teachers were inadequate in primary and secondary schools across the state, and the financial implication of the proposed recruitment had been captured in the 2016 budget.

Alhaji Zakar said government had released more than 600 million naira as counterpart funds to various Federal Government education programmes to enable the state to access necessary funds to improve its basic education.

HOUSING

Jigawa state government in collaboration with federal mortgage bank will construct one thousand, four hundred and thirty houses in across the state.

The Managing Director of Jigawa Saving and Loan Bank, Alhaji Babangida Umar Gantsa confirmed this to our reporter in an interview.

He said one thousand one hundred and eighty; houses will be constructed in the 27 local government areas, while two hundred and fifty houses will be built in the headquarters of five Emirates.
According to him the state government is awaiting the approval from the federal Mortgage Bank for the commencement of the project.

He said the project was in line with Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar commitment to provide decent accommodation to workers in their local governments of origin.

The Managing Director explained that two bedroom houses would cost one million, four hundred thousand naira each, while three bedroom houses will be sold at three million, five hundred thousand naira each.

Jigawa state government is to spend over seven hundred and twenty million naira to sponsor 60 students to study Medicine in the People’s Republic of China.
Commissioner for Health Dr Abba Zakari stated this today at a meeting with the benefitting candidates of the scholarship.
Dr Abba Zakari explained that the state government had earlier announced its intention to sponsor students to study medicine abroad in which 3,700 sat for the examination, and 60 among them were selected.
He said the meeting with the prospective students today was to intimate them with the necessary information for documentation.
The commissioner noted that state government will commence the screening of another sets of student mostly females to study nursing and midwifery.
Also speaking the commissioner of Education, Science and Technology Hajia Rabi Isaq represented by the permanent secretary Malam Abdullahi Hudu charged the students to be good ambassadors while in china.

NOMADIC EDUCATION NEWS.. BY ABDULLAHI UMAR CHAMO (Solvator)

The Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Agency for Nomadic Education, Alhaji Ali Manu says that the State Government had concluded plans to establish 14 additional nomadic schools in the state.

Manu told Jigawa State New Media Office that the schools would be established in Kwangara village in Birninkudu, Kafin Baci in Kiyawa, Kulma in Jahun, Ardo Usaini in Gumel, and Kutum in Malammadori.

He said that others would be established in Kubayi in Guri, Modibawa in Miga, Jawura in Buji, Muwi in Babura, Gallekyar in Giwa and Wangara and Dojar in Dutse.

The Executive Secretary said that the State Government had also planned to renovate the existing 10 nomadic schools in some selected local government areas of the state.

He said those to be renovated were in Ladduga in Birnin Kudu, Kufito in Kaugama, Ketawa in Maigatari, Gezojin Wambai in Kazaure, Barnawa in Taura and Dolel Dabdili in Kirikasamma.

According to him, the building of new schools and renovation of existing ones are meant to increase enrolment of children in nomadic schools in the state.

Manu said that the measures would also enhance attendance among the children of nomads as well as boost the level of literacy at the grassroots.

He said that the agency had over time, in collaboration with Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MCBAN) in the state, senstised nomads on the importance of education.

The Executive Secretary urged the would-be beneficiaries to complement the government's effort by enrolling their children in the schools.

Manu also urged them to use the opportunity to encourage their children and wards to be educated to enhance their future prospects.

SUBEB NEWS TODAY...

Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board has awarded contract for the renovation and construction of additional classrooms in 12 Primary and one Junior Secondary Schools in Birnin Kudu local government area.

The Education Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi Iggi made this known to our reporter in the area.
He said two classrooms each are to be constructed at Kumbura,  Zaramba , Dikwana and Budusu primary schools as well as three classroom at Junior secondary school Jangargari.

Alhaji Abubakar Iggi stated that four classrooms are to be renovated at Arobade, Samamiya  and Dumus Yamma primary school while two classrooms are to be renovated at Lafiya, Unguwar Galadima, Giwa and Kangire primary schools as well as ten classes at Kafin Gana primary school.

He commended the board for its efforts to uplift the standard of primary and junior education in the state.

Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has approved the appointment of Dr. Idris Sule Kazaure as the new Chief Medical Director of Rasheed shekoni Specialists Hospita Dutse.

A statement signed by the commissioner for Health Dr. Abba Zakari said until his appointment the new CMD is a senior lecturer department of Radiology Bayero University Kano and the senior consultant Radiologist Department Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano.

The statement said the appointment is with immediate effect.
